Banba is Irelandโs most Northerly Bakery and Cafe. They are a small family business, run from their home and bakery in Irelandโs most northerly town land, Ballyhillion, Malin Head, on the beautiful rugged Donegal coastline. They have one physical shop and one mobile coffee van.
Banba are a fun, quirky cafe that champion glitter ball decorations, fresh homemade baking and great Irish roasted coffee.
The brand had to remain true to their nature, elevate their image and speak to their special location and birth place.
The Irish name Banba (pronounced BAHN-va) is a Celtic Goddess. Banba had two sisters, รriu and Fodla, and all asked that the island be named for them.
รriu won the contest. Her name then became รire (Ireland). In Irish tradition, wherever Banba hails, she protects the land from invaders.
Banbaโs Crown is Irelandโs most northerly mainland building. Built by the British in 1805 as a Napoleonic lookout tower it helped defend against a possible French invasion. Llyods Insurance Group of London also used it to contact ships โ during both World Wars. Itโs location was vital for daily shipping reports, as the coast line around Malin Head, is some of the most treacherous waters in the world.
Originally branded by me in 2008, this brand refresh is a personal project.
