Barrack Hill Town Park & Community Gardens are an award winning, Green Flag town park in the heart of the Inishowen Peninsula. The park is home to many biodiversity and community engagement projects and is managed by an army of local volunteers.
Having secured funding for a new website, as well as updated park signage, the committee sought me out to help them build a brand that they could, overtime, start to implement across their print and digital collateral.
-
The committee wanted to create a brand that was progressive, fun, creative and that had warmth to it. They also wanted it to speak to some of the unique aspects of the park.
The park was originally designed by Diarmud Gavin in 2015, and part of that was the creation of five sculptures that stand tall and look out across the town and the surrounding countryside. The design for these sculptures originate from the three small figures at the base of St Patrick’s Cross.
Taking both of these in to consideration, I created a unique symbol that represents these heads, which include a sprouting plant, speaking to the biodiversity and education purposes of the park.
The word mark has subtle nods to nature, with the use of negative space in the letter B, and with flecks on leaves of other letters.
The colours and fonts were inspired by nature, creativity and openness.

“We had a great experience working with Mari on a branding project for Barrack Hill Town Park. From the very beginning, she took the time to understand the ethos, the vision and the target audience. Communication was seamless, and she was always open to feedback, making the entire process a true collaboration. We felt supported and confident in her expertise from start to finish.”
