Bistro at The Courthouse

The PEACE IV funded Courthouse Shared Space Creative Hub in Bushmills officially opened in 2024.

Featuring retail, hospitality, bespoke studios for makers and creatives, a dedicated floor of event and meeting spaces, and an exciting programme of experiences and activities to encourage people from different backgrounds to spend time together, this new shared space creative hub is dedicated to nurturing and enabling community and the creative industries, reflecting a commitment to fostering peace, collaboration, innovation and economic growth in Bushmills, and throughout the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough area.

With a strong brand already created for The Courthouse Shared Space Creative Hub, Enterprise Causeway approached me to create a sub-brand for their slow-food, tapas style Bistro, using it as north star for it’s design.

The parent brand focuses heavily on the use of a styled hexagon shape - derived from the famous causeway coastline - as well as a heritage based colour palette and typography style. Using these elements I created a simple, contemporary and stylish bistro brand.

Its differentiation comes in the capitalisation of the text, and a sketch outline of the front of the Courthouse building, which dates back to 1834.

The brand’s colour palette leans in to the greens, creams and ochres of the parent brand.
